Alex Hirpo also known as Alemayehu Hirpo is a rising Ethiopian pop star at this moment in time. Singer and songwriter Alex who shot to stardom back in the mid 90's has three album under his belt including the most popular album Evangadi. Alex made his first break in the Ethiopian music industry with his first album in late 1998. His songs 'Shalala' and 'Yekermo Sew' from his first album and 'Hodye' and 'Nuna Enchawet' from his second album are great favorite with most Ethiopians.

Evangadi is one of the most famous albums in the history of Ethiopian music. Alex in conjunction with another famous Ethiopian singer Gossaye Tesfaye recorded Evangadi in 2002. Evangadi, that became a massive hit in Ethiopia, was also loved greatly by most Ethiopian living abroad. Alex's song 'Yasebshal' also known as 'Bichayen' is perhaps the best song in the album.
